Our “Group WOD’S” (Workout Of the Day) here at Crossfit Haven in Glenview, are the main workouts held within our studio (the “den”). These workouts consist of constantly varied functional movements performed at a relatively high intensity under the supervision of a certified Crossfit coach. All workouts are scalable to meet individual fitness levels so that all, at any age and ability, are able to participate.
Workouts will utilize combinations of the following movements:
- Weight Lifting – Free weights such as barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, slam balls, even bumper plates are employed. Olympic lifting and power lifting movements are practiced and executed as well.
- Basic Gymnastics – Body weight movements such as air squats, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, dips, ring rows and static holds to name several are performed.
- Mono-Structural – Cardiovascular training includes running, rowing, climbing, jumping, roping, and boxing.
The duration of each workout is approximately one hour, which includes a brief warm-up followed by practicing the skill used in the upcoming workout. Once everyone is comfortable with the movements, the workout begins. On average, each workout session last between 15 to 40 minutes. These short, intense workouts are what make CrossFit so effective. You will experience better overall fitness results than other forms of exercise.
